Qualifications

IT Technician

The IT Technician provides reliable, consistent and timely IT services to Côté Gold. Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, the IT Specialist strives to optimize IT performance and to identify solutions to IT and business‑related challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

  • Provide and seek to continuously improve enterprise O365 and Desktop support.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all activities related to IT matters.
  • Complete new software and printer installations and upgrades.
  • Support Telephony; desktop and cellular phones.
  • Work with users to install, customize, and set up user specific hardware and software configuration operating systems and common applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Maintain equipment and software inventory and organize equipment, software, and hardware inventory and ensure IT work areas are in good order.
  • Answer queries and handle requests related to IT matters.
  • Follow established policies and procedures related to IT with Cote Gold and IAMGOLD and comply with established methodologies and quality standards.
  • Escalate issues requiring advanced expertise or knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions.
  • Coordinate IT consultants as required.
  • Fulfill support requests through ticketing system.
  • Perform imaging of new and old computers.
  • Perform Server Administration: Support maintenance duties and AD usage.
  • Perform Network Administration: Support troubleshooting and repairs.

Area 2:

  • Ensure documents and reports are up to date, in the required format, accurate, and produced on time.
  • Ensure backup and recovery activities are reliable and regular, including managing tape rotation and providing and receipt tape in relation with recall.
  • Maintain reference material according to company regulations and policies.
  • Maintain equipment repair history.
  • Analyze information related to computers which may include generating basic reports, reviewing them for accuracy, and monitoring overall quality.
  • Prepare reports as required.

Area 3:

  • Seek opportunities to improve IT reliability.
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Continually seek to improve skills.
  • Watch for inefficiencies or problems, and ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
  • Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).

Area 4:

  • Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
  • Participate in multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet IT deliverables.
Minimum Requirements And Nice To Haves
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
  • College diploma in an IT related field.

AND

  • Completion of a relevant specialized training program / certification.
Work Experience – Nature & Length
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in a technical role for a multi‑location organization or mining organization is considered an asset.
Additional Qualifications – Competency Requirements
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems.
  • Proven ability to deliver output on time, on schedule and within budget.
  • Ability to explain complex IT topics to various audiences.
  • Familiarity with wiring, cabling, communication protocols, and connectivity hardware.
  • Sound knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures related to IT systems.
  • Well organized.
  • Works well independently as well as in team settings.
  • Possesses good time‑management skills and is able to work effectively under pressure.
