Job summary

LifeLabs is looking for an IT Technical Specialist for Billing Applications to maintain and enhance enterprise billing systems. You will ensure reliability, resolve issues across Windows and Linux, and partner with business and technical teams on improvements.

Purpose of the Role

The IT Technical Specialist (Billing Applications) supports, maintains, and enhances enterprise billing applications that enable critical business operations. The role ensures application reliability, resolves technical issues, implements system enhancements, and partners with business and technical teams to deliver secure and efficient application services.

Maintain, Support, and Enhance enterprise applications in a production environment
  • Maintain, support, and enhance enterprise billing applications to ensure system availability, reliability, and operational performance through proactive monitoring, incident resolution, system enhancements, and continuous operational improvements.
  • Monitor application performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize business disruption.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, infrastructure, and data-related issues across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain application components, integrations, and automation scripts.
  • Execute system changes, patches, upgrades, and releases following established change management processes.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Support system integrations and data flows between enterprise applications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system stability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Analyze requirements and support solution delivery
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to design, develop, and implement application enhancements that align with business objectives and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Business Relationship Management and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Assess and prioritize enhancement requests based on business value and technical feasibility.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Participate in solution design and technical planning activities.
  • Support the delivery of application enhancements, operational improvements, and defect resolution.
Support change management and user adoption:
  • Support successful implementation of application changes by coordinating testing, documentation, release activities, and user adoption while ensuring production readiness and business continuity.
  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Prepare and maintain technical and operational documentation.
  • Communicate system changes and impacts to stakeholders.
  • Provide user guidance and post-implementation support.
  • Collaborate with QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to ensure production readiness.
  • Participate in release planning, deployment activities, and post-release validation.
What you bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting and maintaining enterprise applications in production environments.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers using structured root cause analysis techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET, APIs, and PowerShell, with the ability to develop and implement application enhancements and automation solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server (SQL, SSIS, SSRS); experience with Oracle (PL/SQL) is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
  • Experience supporting mission- critical applications in operational environments, ensuring system stability, reliability, and performance.
  • Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices using tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience or exposure to modern front-end technologies such as React or Angular; experience with application integration technologies such as BizTalk is an asset.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, application governance, and compliance requirements within regulated environments; healthcare industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams to deliver enhancements, resolve issues, and support production operations.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or similar technologies is considered an asset.
