Job description

As part of the company Media Credit & Collections team, the Collections Specialist manages an assigned portfolio of accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances. The role collaborates with customers, Sales, Billing, and Accounts Receivable teams to resolve payment issues, reconcile accounts, and support departmental cash collection and DSO objectives.

Responsibilities
Collections & Portfolio Management
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts.
  • Perform regular follow-ups on outstanding balances via phone calls and written correspondence.
  • Forecast monthly cash collections and support departmental collection and DSO targets.
  • Monitor delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate collection strategies.
  • Escalate collection issues as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities and customer commitments.
Account Reconciliation & Customer Service
  • Investigate and resolve billing disputes and payment discrepancies.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and identify outstanding issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Billing, and Accounts Receivable teams to resolve payment delays.
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Distribute statements of account and payment reminders.
Reporting & Administration
  • Prepare collection reports and portfolio updates.
  • Maintain accurate account notes and customer records.
  • Assist with month-end activities related to collections.
  • Support special collection projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or customer account management.
  • Postsecondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in media, advertising, or a high-volume accounts receivable environment is considered an asset.
