Job description

The IT Project Delivery Manager is part of the Security and Project Delivery Administrative Department, which is a strategic pillar in one of Canada’s largest project management offices. You will support the delivery of projects in the information technology portfolio by leading a team of approximately 50 professionals, primarily made up of project leads. In addition to your management role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a relationship of trust with project developers and various stakeholders, including an executive level. You will act as a point of contact in the event of problematic or complex issues and situations. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Develop, implement and track your IT portfolio’s action plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic directions and other sectors, with a focus on performance management.
  • Establish management and communication practices that support change management, skills development, employee engagement and retention, and diversity, in keeping with Desjardins’s values.
  • Act as a delivery officer to ensure collaborative leadership in execution and delivery so that developers can focus on creating value for members and clients.
  • Maintain close relationships with developers and delivery teams, including suppliers under contract as partners.
  • Suggest the best delivery approach for the situation and business strategies at hand in line with all sector initiatives.
  • Influence the continuous improvement of the delivery execution model to ensure team performance and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the definition and optimization of project management practices and approaches in line with industry best practices.
  • Cultivate partnerships and ties with developers and sectoral teams to optimize the development and rollout of solutions.
  • Contribute to Desjardins’s digital transformation and promote innovation within projects and processes.

What you bring to the table
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of nine years of relevant experience, including at least five years in a staff management role
  • Experience managing projects and/or programs involving technology for large-scale complex organizations that work with IT
  • Experience working in influential roles, which are essential for navigating complex, collaborative environments
  • Experience carrying out complex projects using a hybrid of agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Intermediate advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
