Job description

Located in downtown Toronto, Paul Penna Downtown Jewish Day School is a JK-Grade 8 school delivering an engaging,multi-disciplinary, arts-enhanced program which addresses “big ideas” and embraces a pluralistic and egalitarian approach to Judaism. Our school proudly stands on seven values : community, diversity, individuality, Israel, learning, place and social action. We currently have an opening for a full-time IT Manager.

This role reports to the Director of Operations & Finance and will be a member of the administrative team. The role is full time, entailing 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) in-person at school. This team member will work with both the Educational and Operations groups, MBC Computer Solutions, our network provider, as well as with various members of our staff as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Work with managed IT provider where necessary to coordinate with affected staff member to resolve issues as needed, including initial troubleshooting for minor hardware and software issues
  • Maintain logs and records for deployment of school hardware, including tablets, chromebooks and laptops and orchestrating an annual collection and deployment of school devices
  • Ensure that all school software licenses are current and adequate for all grades.
  • Assist our external IT provider to manage G Suite logins and emails accounts as well as network and grade specific application logins for staff & students
  • Provide initial troubleshooting for school devices including Chromebooks. Laptops, Tablets, Workstations & SMARTboards
  • Participate in staff PD where applicable
  • Work with Educational Administrators to prepare report cards templates for teacher input and final formatting before distribution
  • Manage Veracross environment and provide technical support to staff members in its implementation and ongoing use.
  • Work with the Institutional Advancement team to maintain and update the school website as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Familiarity with variety of software applications including G Suite, Google Classroom, Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, Veracross, Wordpress
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to problem solve and pivot quickly
  • Strong team player, yet able to work independently
  • Experience in an educational setting an asset
