We are seeking a talented and experienced Business Systems Analyst to join our dynamic team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver transformative and impactful digital solutions.

Join the Policy Admin Team

Supporting the development of life insurance new and enforce products on a vendor platform and all other system connections (such as but not limited to New Business, Compensation, Customer/Broker Servicing portal, Accounting, Valuations, Correspondence, Reports, etc.) to support the sales and post sales insurance policies.

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to collaborate with various partners to elicit and understand business needs. The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will act as a key liaison between business and technology, translating product specifications into actionable technical requirements and ensuring successful delivery of system functionalities and product development.

Work location: Toronto - Canada or Boston - USA

Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home.

Remote working option is not available.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, Quality Engineers, Business partners, and Scrum teams to define Epics, Features, and detailed User Stories.

  • Translate life insurance product specifications into technical requirements and system designs.

  • Collaborate to help develop and execute test strategies, plans, and acceptance criteria for product implementations and system enhancements.

  • Understand testing requirements and build and support test planning and execution to validate that system solutions meet the business requirements.

  • Perform analysis of complex system calculations including actuarial rate models, identify root cause of problems, and contribute to development of technical solutions.

  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure alignment with business needs and IT standards.

  • Support system, regression, and user acceptance testing activities.

  • Enhance workflows and processes in alignment with business and technical strategy.

  • Monitor industry trends and contribute to communities of practice.

  • Manage multiple initiatives concurrently and navigate ambiguity with a customer-centric mindset.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of individual life insurance operations and product development.

  • Must have experience with Policy Admin systems.

  • Must have Actuarial or strong Mathematical background.

  • 5+ years IT industry experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in Insurance or Banking and Financial sectors is highly preferred

  • 1–2 years of progressive business analysis experience supporting small to medium-sized projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

  • Foundational knowledge of system design and testing processes.

  • Agile team experience where responsibilities include the planning and delivery of user stories in an Agile SCRUM environment

  • Proficiency in systems design, structured analysis, and testing methodologies.

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills to support multiple initiatives.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement across cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.

  • Demonstrable ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment with geographically dispersed Business partners and peers.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel), JIRA.

  • Proven ability to leverage emerging market trends including adoption of tools and best practices using Generative AI to transform Business analysis and product delivery.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Awareness of organizational dynamics and informal structures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Salary range is expected to be between

$75,880.00 CAD - $140,920.00 CAD
