Job summary

Bunge is seeking an IT Application Analyst to deliver application code and documentation in support of our information technology systems from the Regina office in Canada. You will contribute to design, development, and maintenance of software components used across business functions, following established standards and procedures.

The role requires a post-secondary degree in computer science or related field, knowledge of PL/SQL, C#/.NET and Java, and the ability to work well in a team.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information systems, application programming, database and system design.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (oral, written and listening).
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry and domain knowledge (HR, Finance and/or Grains Marketing and Operations) and experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and documents detailed designs for software applications or components.
  • Designs, codes, tests, documents, and refactors programs/scripts for new and existing applications.
  • Collaborates in review of work with others.
  • Identifies and communicates technical problems and resolves issues with applications.
  • Performs agreed applications maintenance tasks for existing applications.
  • Designs test cases and test scripts and reports outcomes; analyzes test results and risks.
  • Produces software builds from source code and conducts tests as defined.
  • Implements changes based on requests and applies change control procedures.
  • Maintains programming guidelines by updating policies and procedures.
  • Supports end users with questions, problems, and training requests.

A Day in the Life:

The IT Application Analyst is responsible for delivery of application code and associated documentation to support and enhance information technology applications.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Creates and documents detailed designs for simple software applications or components applying agreed modelling techniques, standards, patterns and tools. Contributes to the design of components of larger software systems.
  • Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors simple to moderately complex programs/scripts for new and existing applications. Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Collaborates in review of work with others as appropriate.
  • Identifies and communicates technical problems, processes and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
  • Performs agreed applications maintenance tasks for existing applications.
  • Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes. Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.
  • Produces software builds from software source code. Conducts tests as defined in integration test specification and documents results.
  • Develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change. Applies change control procedures.
  • Maintains programming guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Supports end users who have questions, problems, enhancements and ad-hoc training requests.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • One (1) year related business or systems experience.
  • Post secondary degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information systems as well as application programming, database and system design.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (i.e. oral, written and listening).
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry and specific domain knowledge (HR, Finance and/or Grains Marketing and Operations) and experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL, C# .NET and Java.
