A provincial agency in Burnaby is seeking a Senior QA Analyst to oversee testing processes, lead QA projects, and mentor junior analysts. The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non‑medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLC Quor and BC Cannabis Stores.

LDB’s Information Technology (IT) team consists of seven competency areas: Customer Experience, Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Software Services, Data Services, and IT Program Governance. Currently, four divisions managed by IT Directors collectively are responsible for all of the seven competency areas to deliver the IT mandate of supporting LDB’s corporate and business operations and enabling future needs and initiatives.
At present, the IT team consists of more than 260 full‑time employees and includes a sourcing strategy to leverage external expertise to ensure the integrated IT team continues to deliver LDB’s strategic initiatives timely and in high quality.
The IT department of the LDB is responsible for the entire computing infrastructure for all of the 230 + BC Liquor Stores, BC Cannabis Stores as well as LDB’s head office in Burnaby and four warehouse/distribution centres, including Delta, Kamloops, Richmond, and Victoria. The IT department also manages three data centres located in Burnaby, Delta and Kamloops.
Reporting to the QA Manager, the Senior QA Analyst is responsible for test planning, presenting plans, identifying areas of improvement, creating and upgrading QA processes, creating reports, analyzing QA metrics, enforcing established QA processes, and liaising and coordinating with the operational lines of business.
The Senior QA Analyst performs analysis of requirements, analyzes and confirms the ability to test; defect tracking; development of automated test scripts/scenarios traceable to requirements using programming in Java, Python or C# and using tools such as EggPlant.
This role is responsible for performing manual and automated testing, performance testing, analysis and initial prioritization of defects, issues or change requests; running defect triage meetings and daily scrums to track project testing progress and designing, establishing, maintaining the test automation framework along with the automated regression and sanity test suite.
The Senior QA Analyst provides coaching and mentoring to junior QAs on best QA practices and processes.

Degree or diploma in information technology, computer science or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of recent, related experience*.

A combination of education, training and experience may be considered i.e., secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certification, and relevant coursework or certification in information technology, computer science or a related field, with 8 years of recent, related experience*.
