Job Summary

The Irrigation Technician will be responsible for supporting the maintenance of equipment and irrigation systems at both Redecan locations (Fenwick and Cayuga). This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal functioning of all systems required for cultivation.

Responsibilities
Production Responsibilities
  • Repairing PVC pipes, hoses, irrigation lines, headlines, and minor pluming
  • Installing pumps
  • Collaborate with Cultivation team for plant movements and ensure irrigation systems (Hoogendorn) are up to date and accurate.
  • Prepare warehouse for staging materials; oversee shipping and receiving operator for receipt and delivery of materials.
  • Collaborate with the Master Grower to maintain efficient and optimal flow for harvest, picking up product from the ranges and delivering to the warehouse for processing.
  • Organize minor repairs with maintenance team at Foss, or coordinate with vendors for large repairs.
  • Ability to install/replace pH/EC Monitor and Control units, replacements, solenoid replacements, flow sensor replacements, back flow check replacements
Teamwork
  • Collaborate and motivate operations teams to achieve production targets and quality standards.
Resource Management
  • Optimize the use of manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency and minimize production costs in coordination with the Master Grower.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement and oversee the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance production processes.
Health and Safety Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the production environment.
Communication
  • Facilitate clear communication between production teams and cultivation department.

Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A college diploma, bachelor's degree, or trade certificate in a related field, such as horticulture, water treatment, landscaping, crop sciences, or pluming
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with an irrigation system (maintenance and repair)
  • Ability to install pumps required
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift heavy equipment, and perform manual labour
  • Strong communication skills to communicate with team and explain technical details
