Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking an IPAC Lead for a permanent full-time role at Granite Ridge Care Community in Stittsville, ON. The position focuses on planning, implementing and evaluating the infection prevention and control program to protect residents and support frontline staff.

The role requires certification in infection prevention and control, several years in geriatrics, and strong regulatory knowledge. English proficiency and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform infection prevention and control surveillance, data analysis and best practices implementation.
• Identifying trends and managing investigations of infections and outbreaks.
• Provide education/consultation for front line team members and support the team to ensure regulatory compliance.

The Infection Prevention and Control Lead is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.

As an Infection Prevention and Control Lead your typical day will impact the following ways:

• Participating in the planning, development, organization, implementation and evaluation of Sienna infection prevention and control program.
• Proactive prevention of dangerous infectious agents such as viruses and bacteria, outbreaks and epidemics.
• Implementing prevention strategies including education/consultation for front line team members.
• Performing infection prevention and control surveillance, collection and implementation of best practices and data analysis.
• Identifying trends/patterns and managing investigations of infections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Must haves:

• Sound knowledge of applicable provincial regulations and standards for Ontario.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in geriatrics in a clinical health setting.
• Completion of Basic Infection Prevention and Control Courses or willingness to obtain in a timeframe identified.
• Certification in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) or Associate Infection Prevention and Control Certification (A-IPC) – or willingness to obtain within a timeframe identified.
• Fluent in English.
• Advanced computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel).
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Experience in Infection Control an asset.
• Experience and/or training in Principles of adult education is an asset.
