BDC Capital’s Industrial Innovation Venture Fund backs ambitious founders rebuilding the industrial economy. We invest in companies using software, hardware, AI, robotics, advanced materials, climate technologies, and deep tech to transform multiple sectors.

We are hiring an Investment Associate who will meet exceptional founders, test breakthrough technologies, map markets, and help Canadian companies scale globally.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, a tech startup, or an industrial/technical operating role.
• Degree in commerce, economics, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• Comfort with financial modeling, market research, customer discovery, technical diligence, and synthesizing ambiguity into clear recommendations.
• Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Source and shape the pipeline by identifying emerging industrial technology markets and building relationships with founders, investors, operators, researchers, and strategic partners.
• Evaluate startups across market size, product differentiation, customer value, go-to-market, team quality, business model, cap table, and exit potential.
• Run diligence workstreams including customer calls, expert interviews, founder sessions, technical reviews, financial modeling, and investment memo preparation.
• Turn complex technical and commercial inputs into clear, decision-ready investment recommendations.
