Job summary

A leading adventure company in Alberta is seeking a dedicated Interpretive Guide Trainer. This full-time seasonal role involves training and evaluating guides on various topics including geology and climate change. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpretive guiding, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for environmental stewardship. This job is posted as part of our seasonal hiring for Spring/Summer 2026, it will be a full‑time seasonal role.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for interpretive programming at the Columbia Icefield across all departments across a variety of topics such as geology, wildlife, glaciers, climate change and history.
  • Deliver multi length/format training programs to interpretive guides throughout the season with a focus on how to be a guide, storytelling and engagement training to ensure guides are providing the best experience for guests.
  • Continue delivering training and updates to support guides throughout the season.
  • Evaluate guides frequently during the season to ensure quality and consistency of tours that are being delivered to guests.
  • Providing clear, balanced and actionable feedback to guides with ongoing support. Escalating to managers when required.
  • Develop new, and update existing, training materials, scripts etc. and ensure knowledge and resources are kept up to date.
  • Model exceptional hospitality, professionalism, and interpretive excellence.
  • Coordinate interpretive events, drop in Q&A sessions and other engagement activities throughout the season.
  • Stewardship of the environment with a focus on climate change, sustainability and working with partners.
  • Collaboration with Indigenous Partners and assisting with workshops.
  • Proactively provide feedback and implement ideas for improvements for staff and guests.
  • Assist Interpretive Manager with tasks in a timely and detailed manner.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Columbia Icefield Skywalk when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by your employer.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous interpretive guiding and/or training experience required.
  • A background in geology, glaciology, biology, environment or an IGA certification is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and storytelling skills.
  • Organization and time management skills alongside strong administrative and computer skills (must be confident with Microsoft Office suite).
  • Seeking someone mature, energetic, dependable, and self‑driven.
  • A passion for developing guiding skills and hospitality.
  • Must have a strong commitment to creating awareness and sharing knowledge and training about climate change and the environment.
  • Ability to think on the fly and outside the box to solve problems with a positive attitude.
  • A passion for making a difference for each guest and employee.
  • Must get excited at the idea of living and working in a remote environment and being a steward of this special area.
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment as well as spending periods of time on vehicles conducting evaluations. Be prepared to work in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail, sun).
  • Must meet Pursuit grooming and appearance standards.
  • To honor our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record check.
  • Class 5 Canadian driver’s license (with clean abstract) required.
  • Multi‑lingual skills are an asset but not required.
  • Standard First‑Aid or higher is an asset but not required.

The starting wage for this role is $21.00/hour.
