Job summary

Ottawa Catholic School Board is seeking International Languages (Secondary) Program Teachers for Levels 1–3 (9–12) on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., for 29 Saturdays from Sept 20, 2025 to June 6, 2026, with in-person or virtual options. Millisecond staffing will depend on enrollment and could be offered in-person, online or both.

Positions require Ontario teaching certification, proven teaching experience, and fluency in the relevant language.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Ontario College of Teachers and hold a Certificate of Qualification (Intermediate/Senior).
• Teaching experience in international languages programs is required.
• Fluency in the language to be taught (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
• ASL knowledge, Deaf culture understanding for ASL program is an asset.

The Ottawa Catholic School Board invites applications from candidates interested in being considered for the International Languages (Secondary) Program teaching and supply teaching positions, which may become available during the 2025-2026 school year. These credit teaching positions are for Levels 1 to 3 (gr. 9 to 12) on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m . for 29 Saturdays from September 20, 2025 to June 6, 2026. Please note that staffing is based on student enrollment and classes may be offered in-person, virtually, or both.

In Person - Locations and Languages:

• St. Mother Teresa HS and Notre Dame High School -American Sign Language

• St . George - Russian;

• St. Mother Teresa High School and All Saints High School - Mandarin Simplified

• St. Mother Teresa High School - Farsi , Ukrainian

• Frank Ryan Intermediate School, - Italian

Virtual Program:

Saturday Mornings

Hungarian, Russian,Yoruba

Evenings (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday)

Korean

Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

• Registered with the Ontario College of Teachers and hold a Certificate of Qualification (or equivalent) in the Intermediate/Senior divisions;

• Teaching experience;

• Must have knowledge of and fluency of the language (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing);

• For ASL only - Knowledge of and fluency of American Sign Language, Deaf culture and needs of Deaf in Hearing/Deaf Cultural settings;

• Comfortable teaching online. Some training and support to teach online is available.

In addition, the following will be considered an asset:

• Previous experience working with children and/or youth;

• Good computer skills (Google Apps, Microsoft Office) and knowledge of online Learning and/or Meeting tools;

• For ASL only - Previous teaching experience of ASL with Hearing, Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing working in Hearing environments.

Compensation: $55.02 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.

Anticipated Start Date: September 19, 2026

You will be required to provide a negative Original Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector dated within the last 6 months if successful in the hiring process.
