Job summary

CarePartners in Oakville is seeking Personal Support Workers to aid patients at home and in the community, supporting daily living and independence under supervision of the Personal Support Manager.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, promoting safety, and providing cognitive and emotional support. Candidates must hold a PSW certificate or be enrolled in a nursing program, have a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and a current vulnerable sector check.

Qualifications

  • Current valid PSW certificate or enrollment in a nursing program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • Availability for non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Based in Oakville and able to travel for client visits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living activities and medication assistance as directed.
  • Promote safety with proper body mechanics and home safety practices.
  • Provide cognitive, social and emotional support to patients.
  • Prepare meals per care plan and ensure hygienic food handling.

Overview

What The Role Involves
  • Assisting with daily living activities, such as personal care (rise and retire), assistance with household tasks, respite care, medication assistance, special functions
  • Promoting a safe environment by demonstrating proper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, and home safety
  • Providing cognitive, social and/or emotional support to the patient
  • Preparing nutritious, varied and economical meals and snacks, including special diets, as determined by the care plan, using proper food preparation, storage, and hygiene practices.
What You Bring
  • A strong desire and commitment to making a difference in the lives of their patients
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Availability to work non-traditional hours, such as early morning, evenings, and alternate weekends
  • A valid driver’s license (G or G2 Classification), access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of automobile insurance
  • Valid certificate as a Personal Support Worker, Internationally Trained Nurse, Health Care Aid, Developmental Support Worker, Home Support Worker, or enrollment in a Nursing program
  • To protect our patients, we require current vulnerable sector check screening, a clear background check
