Intact Financial Corporation in Canada is hiring an Internal Investigation Unit – Business Advisor Specialist IIU. You will apply data analytics to fraud detection, risk management, and informed decision making, transforming complex information into clear recommendations.

The role requires a university degree in a related field, 8+ years of experience, and advanced tools knowledge (Python, SAS, SQL databases).

Qualifications

• University degree in actuarial science, data science, statistics, economics, mathematics, business or finance.
• Eight or more years of experience in insurance, data analytics, finance, economics, business analysis, or related field.
• Certification or professional experience in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, or economics.
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.
• Experience with advanced data analytics tools, including Python, SAS, Oracle, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Experience developing dashboards, reporting solutions, monitoring tools, or data-driven recommendations.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, leadership, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, make decisions, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Strong initiative, accountability, organization, collaboration, and change management skills.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to colleagues.
• Bilingualism in French and English is required for Québec Candidates.

Salary range (but not limited to):

109,900 - 134,300

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance): 15%

We are looking for a Business Advisor Specialist IIU to join our Internal Investigation Unit (IIU).

What you'll do here:

In this role, you will use data and advanced analytics to support fraud detection, risk management, and business decision-making. You will develop actionable insights, communicate recommendations to stakeholders, lead initiatives, and contribute to the development of the team’s analytical capabilities.

Data Management, Analysis and Insights

• Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, risks, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop data-driven tools, dashboards, reporting solutions, and monitoring methods.
• Use tools such as Python, SAS, Power Query, Power BI, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks, Intact GPT, and Intact AI.
• Translate data findings into clear recommendations and action plans.
• Maintain data quality, accuracy, auditability, and compliance with governance standards.
• Collaborate with the Data Lab, CDAT, and regional teams across the country.
• Maintain and develop IIU reports, dashboards, and tracking methods.
• Produce weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports for leadership and business partners.

Leadership Recommendations and Strategic Impact

• Present complex information as clear, actionable insights for various audiences.
• Use data to influence decisions, support change management, and improve business outcomes.
• Lead initiatives from planning through implementation and recommend adjustments based on results.
• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on data and business improvement opportunities.
• Lead or support regional and national projects related to Internal Fraud.
• Define requirements, prioritize improvements, validate deliverables, and implement new tools and processes.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance on data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving.
• Lead workshops and share best practices to strengthen team capabilities.
