Job summary

Capital One Canada is seeking a Winter 2027 intern to join Team Sprout as a Full Stack Software Engineer. You’ll work across Go, NodeJS and AWS with a collaborative, cross-Canada team to automate onboarding and build resilient infrastructure.

You’ll contribute to design, coding, testing and deployment, gaining hands-on experience while supporting security and scalability. The program emphasizes mentorship, growth, and real impact on our onboarding experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher expected by December 2026.
• Familiarity with backend development using any backend programming language and JavaScript.
• Excellent communication, presenting and writing skills.
• Strong testing fundamentals.
• Able to collaborate effectively in a team.
• Complete the assessment by September 7, 2026.

About the Team Team Sprout is on a journey to transform the new hire onboarding experience by replacing manual administrative friction with seamless innovation. Our objective is to fully automate the critical setup process—including granting essential system access, managing team roster additions, and streamlining tool configurations. By handling these repetitive requirements upfront, we ensure that new associates can skip the setup hurdles and focus their energy where it matters most: mastering the domain and contributing soon.

About the Role As an engineer on Team Sprout you will be working with a highly collaborative, diverse mix of engineers from different parts of Canada Capital One teams to shape the requirements, design the solution and implement the solution. You will have the opportunity to work on different layers of the technology stack (Go, NodeJS, AWS) and collaborate with many external teams to help achieve our mission. You will be involved in building infrastructure, feature development, testing (unit test, component test and integration test), deployment, monitoring and fixing cyber security and vulnerability fixes. IDEs: IntelliJ, VSCode Languages: NodeJS, Vue, React, Java, GoLang AWS: S3, Lambda, Route53, Security Groups, IAM roles Monitoring: Splunk, New Relic CI/CD: Jenkins, Onepipeline (Capital One’s innersourced CI/CD pipeline) Databases: Postgres, Aurora, DynamoDB

Your Responsibilities

• Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle
• Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure high-level quality output
• Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality, and time to market imperatives
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, design and brainstorming sessions
• Collaborate with Product and Analyst stakeholders to implement enhancements or new applications
• Technical Documentation for analysis, test results and release
• Learn and build AWS cloud infrastructure on the job
• Have fun with the team

Basic Qualifications

• Will obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher from December 2026 or later
• Familiarity with application development using any backend programming language, and JavaScript
• Good communication, presentation, and writing skills
• Good understanding of testing fundamentals
• Able to work within a team setting and actively participate and collaborate in team discussion
• Ensure you complete the assessment no later than September 7, 2026 @ 11:59PM

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with backend technologies such as GoLang, AWS Lambda, S3
• Experience with version control technology i.e. Git
• Experience with Jenkins CI/CD, microservices, API design / integration

This posting is for an existing vacancy. The expected annual salary for this position is between $45,000 to $85,000.
