Within this position, you can leverage the process engineering and water design knowledge gained through your education and early career. Under the guidance of our senior engineering staff, you will work on water and wastewater treatment and conveyance projects in a supporting capacity. At a high level your tasks may include the development of engineering and financial calculations, participating in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, engineering calculations, technical reports, providing proposal support, and independent field work. The projects that may be assigned are broad, varied, and diverse in scope, and often require seamlessly working with a diverse project team.

We are looking for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, who can quickly get up to speed and grow into the role. It is expected that you have obtained your professional engineering designation or have the ability to obtain within 12 months. Many of the challenges we tackle for our clients are complex and multi-faceted, requiring comprehensive analytical skills often gained through rigorous academic study. Although not a requirement, advanced degrees in engineering and business administration are highly desired.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and uphold Stantec’s Health and Safety culture, ensuring all project activities align with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage multiple simultaneous projects with competing deadlines, providing timely concise updates to supervisory staff and proactively identifying risks impacting scope, schedule or budget.
  • Contribute to the development of conceptual design basis reports, engineering assessments, data analysis and design calculations for water and wastewater projects.
  • Prepare detailed technical analyses and evaluations that support the planning, design, or optimization of water and wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure.
  • Develop and review construction specifications, tender documents, and regulatory approval submissions.
  • Support and oversee the preparation of engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, vendors, consultants, and regulatory authorities, serving as a reliable technical point of contact throughout project execution.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to support proposals, project development, construction oversight, and business development initiatives.
  • Review and inspect projects during construction, monitoring contractor performance, contractual conformance, progress, quality, and alignment with cost and schedule expectations.
  • Manage contract administration activities, including reviewing contractor submissions, evaluating change requests, supporting claims resolutions, tracking contract deliverables, and coordinating communication stakeholders.
  • Support the project manager or lead engineer in preparing proposals, technical reports, scopes of work, and fee estimates, incorporating risk, schedule, and contract considerations.
  • Assist project technical leads in managing project deliverables and schedule, ensuring that scope budget and contractual obligations are met.
  • Work effectively in a flexible office environment, including in-office work, remote work-from-home settings and travel to project sites as needed.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment commonly used in water/wastewater facilities (e.g., pumps, blowers, mixers, chemical feed systems, valves, and piping systems) Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams—including process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and I&C engineers—to contribute to integrated design solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and support adherence to budgets and schedules.
  • Demonstrated engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify design challenges and propose practical solutions.
  • Clear grasp of engineering concepts and the ability to translate technical idea into drawings, specifications or written communication for both internal and external stakeholders.
