Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Intermediate Water Treatment Engineer to join our team! In this role you will be doing various design assignments related to water/wastewater projects.
What You'll Be Doing
- Be able to independently carry out designs of water treatment systems and apply engineering knowledge to adjacent fields such as wastewater treatment, potable water supply, and wastewater collection systems.
- Manage small-to-medium scale projects in the related field.
- Positively promote Parsons through direct and indirect client engagement opportunities.
- Provide input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project. The specialist will be required to carry out CAD related tasks while using special 3D software and model creation.
- Prepare or assist in preparing fundamental computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs. Assist in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts.
- Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
- Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Various design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories studied in a four‑year university engineering program and further related knowledge obtained throughout professional practice tenure.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil / Chemical / Hydraulics / Water / Environmental Engineering (or related field).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Manitoba, or ability to complete mobility application from another Canadian province within 6 months.
- A minimum of 4 years of related work experience in Wet Utilities such as potable water, wastewater, sewerage networks projects.
- Requires detailed engineering knowledge in the design of water treatment systems.
- Familiarity with software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Bentley WaterCAD / WaterGems / OpenUtilities or related software and other PC software packages typically associated with wet services engineering.
- Strong English language speaking and writing skill.
Desirable Skills You'll Bring
- Experience in both surface water and groundwater treatment applications.
- Experience with small- and large-scale systems.
- Experience in Manitoba.
- Ability to apply engineering knowledge to adjacent fields such as wastewater treatment and municipal conveyance systems.
- Skilled in the application of BIM.
