Job summary

CBCL Limited, a dynamic engineering and environmental consulting firm, seeks an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical & Instrumentation team in Fredericton, NB (or Halifax, NS). Lead electrical design for industrial, water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects.

You will mentor junior staff, prepare detailed designs and specs, and ensure safety and codes compliance while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering degree with registration or eligibility for registration with provincial Engineering Associations.
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience in electrical system design including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and instrumentation; knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit for electrical design, coordination, and interdisciplinary project collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information and work with clients and teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and design electrical systems for industrial facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, pump stations, and other projects.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers and technologists.
  • Prepare detailed designs, contract documents, and technical specifications for power, lighting, telecom, fire alarm, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Provide electrical engineering advice and support across multidisciplinary teams; ensure project execution and quality.
  • Incorporate safety standards and codes; ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Support business development activities, including proposals and client interactions.
  • Perform on-site surveys, assess existing infrastructure, and oversee construction activities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical & Instrumentation team based in either Halifax, Nova Scotia or Fredericton, New Brunswick. Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Innovate: Manage, coordinate, and design electrical systems for industrial facilities, water & wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and other infrastructure;
  • Mentor and Inspire: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technologists, fostering an environment that encourages innovation and growth;
  • Design with Precision: Prepare detailed designs, contract documents, and technical specifications for systems such as power distribution (medium and low voltage), lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm, instrumentation, control systems;
  • Deliver Excellence: Provide electrical engineering advice and support across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring smooth project execution and technical excellence;
  • Ensure Safety & Quality: Incorporate safety standards and risk analysis into designs while ensuring projects adhere to electrical codes, standards, and best practices;
  • Drive Business Growth: Engage in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client interaction; and
  • Provide On-Site Expertise: Conduct site surveys, assess existing infrastructure, and oversee construction activities to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration with provincial Engineering Associations;
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience;
  • Experience in electrical system design, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and instrumentation, with in-depth knowledge of electrical codes;
  • Proficiency in Revit for electrical design, coordination, and interdisciplinary project collaboration;
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information, draft detailed reports, and work collaboratively with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and project stakeholders; and
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and deliver quality work on time and within budget.

Valued Experience
  • Experience working in a consulting engineering environment is preferred;
  • 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience;
  • Electrical design experience in industrial, water, and/or wastewater; and
  • Knowledge of PLC-based control systems and instrumentation.
  • The ability to communicate in both English and French would be an asset.
