Job Description
  • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on telecommunication system and sub-system interface documentation, including radio, microwave, satellite, network, and telecom;
  • Recommend telecommunication system level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to network system equipment and specifications;
  • Liaise with DND and stakeholder telecommunication sub-system technical groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability;
  • Analyze and integrate telecommunication network systems;
  • Create planning and procurement support documentation, such as technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards, and SOWs for miscellaneous interface and facility ancillary items;
  • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations relating to telecommunication network system components and associated documentation;
  • Provide technical expertise in design, technical, and management reviews of telecommunication network systems to monitor, advise, and report on progress and potential problems;
  • Conduct telecommunication system integration testing and evaluation;
  • Analyze telecommunication system deficiencies and recommends cost effective solutions;
  • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on the suitability of industry telecommunication network system documentation;
  • Conduct technical definition studies and options analysis on telecommunication network systems;
  • Perform any other work related to this category.
Qualifications
  • Must have one of the following:
    • An Engineering or Science degree from a recognized Canadian University or a non-Canadian Engineering or Science degree that must be accredited
    • A diploma or certificate, minimum 2 years from a recognized college in an Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) field.
    • Licensed as a Professional Engineer by any Professional Engineering self-regulatory bodies within the provinces of Canada.
  • Minimum of 5years experienceas a Telecommunication System Specialist.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience (in the last 5 years) in writing Project Technical Documentation (e.g. Statement of Work, Statement of Requirements, technical specifications) for IM/IT projects valued $5M or more.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience (in the last 5 years) with designing, installing, and maintaining equipment for telecommunications systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience (in the last 5 years) implementing network infrastructure projects in areas such as; data center move/refresh, storage & database consolidation and information security projects.
Additional Information
  • Able to obtain and maintain a CanadianGovernment NATO Secret Clearance
  • Able to go onsite 5 days a week in Ottawa
  • Potential travel outside the NCR may be required
