Job summary

Dillon Consulting Limited seeks an Intermediate/Senior Noise Engineer to join its Atmospheric Services team in Ontario, with hybrid work options. You will lead acoustics, noise and vibration projects for facilities and transportation, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across environmental science, planning and management.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to register.
  • Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in acoustics, noise and vibration with leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and drive execution of acoustics and noise solutions.
  • Collaborate across environmental science, planning and management.
  • Manage acoustics, noise and vibration projects for facilities and transportation.
  • Provide technical support to junior staff, including monitoring, modelling, abatement strategies, and regulatory liaison.
  • Encourage automation and AI-enabled tools in design.
  • Drive business development and client relationships.
  • Travel to other Dillon offices as needed.

We are currently seeking a Intermediate/Senior Noise Engineer to join our Atmospheric Services team. Our team specializes in in the atmospheric and acoustic solutions that safeguard both project compliance and community well-being.

This is a new position and is based out of any of the following Ontario offices; Downtown Toronto, North York, Oakville, Hamilton, Guelph, Kitchener, London, Chatham, Windsor, Kingston or Ottawa. Responsibilities
About the Position
Project Management & Design
  • Lead the strategy and drive the execution of high-value engineering solutions that position our firm as the premier technical partner for complex projects.
  • Diversify by collaborating with internal experts across environmental science, planning, and management to deliver holistic solutions that go beyond standard engineering.
  • Management of acoustics, noise and vibration projects for facilities (including oil and gas facilities, power generating facilities, and industrial/manufacturing facilities), transportation projects, Land Use Compatibility Assessments, etc.
  • Provision of technical support to junior level staff on project work including monitoring, modelling, development of abatement strategies, and regulatory liaison
  • We empower our teams to automate the routine so they can focus on high-value, creative problem-solving. You will be encouraged to experiment with AI-enabled tools to push the boundaries of traditional design.
  • Sustainable Business Development
  • Proactively seek and cultivate new, long-term business opportunities that align with our sustainability goals and drive responsible growth.
  • Provide strategic leadership to strengthen and expand existing client relationships, with a focus on long-term partnerships and on developing strong, value-driven proposals and statements of qualification.
  • Travel to other Dillon offices as needed to support collaboration, share knowledge, and drive growth across the firm.

Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in your field or eligible to register.
  • A degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Proven expertise in acoustics, noise and vibration, usually developed through 10+ years of experience in consulting or related fields, with a track record of technical leadership.
Experience
  • Experience in many of the following areas of service:
    • environmental noise
    • indoor acoustics
    • land development assessment
    • noise monitoring
    • vibration monitoring and assessment
    • noise abatement
  • Knowledge of acoustic assessment study requirements and facility permitting procedures
  • An understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to noise issues
  • Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary project teams and driving business development and growth.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in an environment that provides quality, solution-oriented consulting services
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills
Compensation

$75,000-$120,000

At Dillon, we believe in transparency. The following salary range is what we expect to offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
