  • Certifications such as PMP or PSP are considered an asset.

Intermediate Planner / Scheduler

What You’ll Do

The Intermediate Planner / Scheduler is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of EPCM projects by developing, maintaining and analyzing project schedules across engineering, procurement and construction phases. Working both in the field and in the office, this role ensures effective project planning coordination and progress tracking in alignment with project goals. The Planner / Scheduler collaborates closely with project managers, discipline leads and subcontractors to drive schedule integrity, performance and predictability across energy and infrastructure projects. Location: Calgary / Edmonton, AB.


Key Responsibilities


  • Schedule Development & Management

    • Develop and maintain integrated Level 14 project schedules for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

    • Ensure schedules align with project work breakdown structures (WBS) and contract requirements.

    • Identify critical paths, key milestones and interfaces between disciplines and stakeholders.



  • Progress Measurement & Reporting

    • Track and analyze actual progress against the baseline schedule.

    • Prepare weekly and monthly schedule reports, variance analyses and recovery plans as required.

    • Support earned value management (EVM) and performance forecasting.



  • Coordination & Collaboration

    • Work with engineering, procurement and construction teams to gather input and validate schedule logic and durations.

    • Participate in regular project planning meetings, progress reviews and risk workshops.

    • Interface with clients, vendors and contractors on scheduling matters.



  • Risk & Change Management

    • Assess schedule impacts due to design changes, delays and other project events.

    • Support the change management process by evaluating time impacts for scope changes and claims.

    • Provide input to risk assessments and mitigation strategies from a scheduling perspective.



  • Compliance & Best Practices

    • Adhere to internal project controls, standards, procedures and corporate governance.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning and scheduling processes and tools.



  • Qualifications & Skills

    • Experience: 4–9 years of relevant planning and scheduling experience in EPCM projects within the energy and/or infrastructure sectors.

    • Education: Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.

    • Software Proficiency: Proficient in industry‑standard planning and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and general office applications.

    • Knowledge: Strong understanding of project lifecycle phases (FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning).

    • Skills:

      • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

      • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

      • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or within cross‑functional teams.



    • Certifications (optional): PMP, PSP or other project management/scheduling certifications considered an asset.
