Job summary

Minth North America, Inc. is expanding its operations team and seeks an experienced Intermediate Molding Technologist - Metal Stamping.

You will participate in design approvals and launches for production tooling and provide technical support through installation, tryout, and ramp-up. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering-related degree and 3+ years in tooling within automotive manufacturing, with proficiency in CAD tools and quality-methodologies.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool and Die Design, Materials Forming, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • At least three years of tooling, die, fixture, or related engineering experience within automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience with stamping dies, roll-forming tooling, welding fixtures, or automotive body-structure processes; knowledge of steel battery enclosures preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T requirements, tolerances, and inspection reports.
  • Experience in tool tryout, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and engineering change processes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Strong hands-on problem-solving, cross-functional coordination, and supplier-management skills.
  • Good English communication skills; Mandarin-English bilingual is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in technical review, design approval, validation, acceptance and launch of new dies, gauges, welding fixtures, and tooling.
  • Provide technical support during tooling installation, tryout, commissioning, production launch and ramp-up.
  • Interpret drawings and communicate technical documentation clearly.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues during tooling projects.

Job description

Our operations team is expanding and looking to add an Intermediate Molding Technologist. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.


The Intermediate Molding Technologist - Metal Stamping is responsible for participating in the technical review, design approval, validation, acceptance, and launch of new dies, gauges, welding fixtures, and other production tooling. Provide technical support during tooling installation, tryout, commissioning, production launch, and ramp-up.


To be a qualified candidate, you must have the following:

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool and Die Design, Materials Forming, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • At least three years of tooling, die, fixture, or related engineering experience within the automotive manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of stamping dies, roll-forming tooling, welding fixtures, or automotive body-structure manufacturing processes; experience with steel battery enclosures is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T requirements, tolerances, and dimensional inspection reports.
  • Experience in tool tryout, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and engineering change processes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or other relevant engineering software.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality tools, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Strong hands‑on problem‑solving, cross‑functional coordination, and supplier‑management skills.
  • Good English communication skills and the ability to understand and prepare technical documentation; Mandarin‑English bilingual skills are an asset.
  • Ability to support overtime during project launches and travel domestically or internationally when required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Key to being successful in this role:

  • Experience working for an automotive Tier 1 supplier or a large manufacturing organization.
  • Experience with large stamping dies, 1,500 MPa high‑strength steel forming, or automotive body‑structure components.
  • Knowledge of robotic welding fixtures, checking fixtures, and automated production tooling.
  • Ontario Tool and Die Maker certification or an equivalent professional qualification.
