Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking an Intermediate Mine Permitting Specialist, based in Regina or Saskatoon. You will advance mining projects across Saskatchewan and Western Canada through a hybrid work arrangement, aligning regulatory requirements, Indigenous engagement, and technical disciplines to create practical approval pathways.

• A university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or related discipline.
• Progressive experience delivering environmental assessments and mining permits.
• Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental frameworks in Saskatchewan and Western Canada.
• Experience engaging Indigenous communities and responding to information requests.
• Ability to advise clients and multidisciplinary teams on permitting pathways and schedules.
• Technical writing and quality-review skills for regulatory submissions.

As an Intermediate Mine Permitting Specialist based in Saskatoon or Regina, Saskatchewan, you will help advance responsible mining projects across Saskatchewan and Western Canada through a hybrid work arrangement. Working within WSP's Mining practice in the Earth, Resources and Industry (ERI) business, you will connect regulatory requirements, Indigenous engagement, environmental science, and engineering design to create practical and defensible approval pathways across the full mine lifecycle.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and project teams, contribute hands‑on permitting leadership, and support the growth of emerging practitioners while helping projects move from exploration and development through operations, expansion, and closure.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• A university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline.


• Progressive experience delivering environmental assessments, mining permits, and approvals for complex Canadian projects.


• Strong working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental assessment and permitting frameworks relevant to Saskatchewan and Western Canada.


• Experience supporting respectful regulator and Indigenous engagement, consultation processes, and responses to information requests.


• Ability to advise clients and multidisciplinary teams on permitting pathways, regulatory risk, approval strategy, and schedule integration.


• Technical writing and quality-review skills for complex submissions that translate scientific and engineering information into clear regulatory documentation.


• Experience coordinating technical inputs across water, geochemistry, air quality, reclamation, closure, or related environmental disciplines.


• A professional designation such as P.Geo ., P.Eng., RPBio., or an equivalent credential is preferred.

Compensation

• AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $93,700 - $124,200


• MB & ON: $85,500 - $117,800


• NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $84,700 - $112,400
