Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Mount Pearl, NL office.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designmechanical components and systems using3DCAD software, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and project requirements. This applies to the breadth ofKraken productsand systems. Such as: Launch and Recovery Systems, KATFISH, Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) products, Deep Sea Batteries,Chargersand Mine Hunting Systems.
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation studies tooptimizedesigns forsafety,performance, reliability, and manufacturability.Such as stress analysis, vibration,shockand thermal.
- Develop andmaintaindocumentation to support Kraken’s products and systems. Includingvarious typesof mechanical drawings, manuals, procedures,training material, interface instructions, etc.
- Develop andmaintainbuild instructions until official hand over to Production.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures to verify requirement compliance,validatingperformance, functionality, and reliability of Kraken products and systems.
- Participate in projects through the entire design life cycle, includingpreliminary and detailed design,major design reviews,buildand test.
- Manage product data and documentation using Product Data Management software ensuringaccurateversion control and revision history.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, includingSystems Engineering,Electrical Engineering,Manufacturing Engineering,ILS,Production, Supply Chain Management, Configuration& DocumentationManagement,Project Managementand Business Development.
- Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance withKraken requirements,applicable standards, regulations, and classification society requirements.
- Support Production in developingstandardWork Instructionsand Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Occasionally perform physical work including assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and testing of components.
- Work with the Production department to provide technicalassistanceduring the manufacturing process.
- Provide a client interface forKrakentechnical representation.
- Work withclients to understand project requirements and provide operational support while in the field.
- MentorJunior MechanicalEngineers andMechanicalTechnologists.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- MechanicalEngineering degree or equivalent engineering discipline with4+years' experience.
- Proficiencyin CAD software for 3D modelling and mechanical simulation.
- Familiar with engineering review processes.
- Knowledge ofdesign standards.
- Effectively focuson, and prioritize,projectobjectiveswhile executing detailed design tasks.
- Demonstrated technical skills along with a proventrack recordfor success.
- Strong written and oral communications skills (technical reporting).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment.
- High degree of organizationandattention to detail.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
- Experience withSolidWorks3DCAD andSolidWorkssimulation.
- Experience withSolidWorksPDM.Approval workflows, version control, file structure, etc.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience with Sonar systems especially in an ocean environment.
