Environmental Scientist, Technologist, or Engineer-in-Training

Edmonton, Alberta

The Liability Management & Restoration (LM&R) service line is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist, Technologist, or Engineer EIT. This position will be based in Edmonton, Alberta and contribute to the continued growth and success of the LM&R service line. The successful candidate will support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination, environmental monitoring, water and soil sampling of remediation and decommissioning sites.

Responsibilities
  • Perform 60% various types of fieldwork including but not limited to surface water/groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, drilling, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation.
  • Participate and support field programs and all aspects of project execution. Perform tasks as requested efficiently and accurately, using standard methods and techniques.
  • Preparation of workplans and costestimates.
  • Support environmental investigations including drilling, test pitting, logging, sampling, and monitoring well installations.
  • Support remediation programs including planning, subcontractor management and execution.
  • Support groundwater and surface water monitoring.
  • On-site safety supervision and associated documentation.
  • Track and report on field activity. Coordinate the procurement of project supplies and contractor services.
  • Report preparation including writing, compiling supporting documentation and data review.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Travel as required for various field programs.
Qualifications
  • University Degree or Technical Diploma from accredited institution, plus appropriate continuing education.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience, including field work.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team setting.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to work challenging and potentially extended hours under varying weather conditions.
  • Relevant field experience in Alberta and knowledge of Alberta regulations are an asset.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry is considered an asset.
  • Working toward professional registration or certification or recently certified.
