This is a permanent full-time position in our Prairies and Territories Assessment and Permitting Team based in the Edmonton office. Stantec’s Prairies and Territories Environmental Services group is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Planner to work with our Assessment and Permitting team in Alberta with preference for Edmonton and/or the surrounding area. The team is based in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and while we embrace our core value that “we are better together”, we do offer flexible work solutions and hybrid work situations.
In this role, the successful candidate will provide support to all stages of a project’s lifecycle including assessment, permitting and approval requirements, construction support, and post-construction support. Working with our biological, physical sciences, human environment, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading environmental assessments and permitting activities for a variety of projects focused on transmission and distribution.
The ideal candidate for this position is one that is a self-motivated, demonstrated effective communicator who thrives working in a team environment and a creative thinker with demonstrated problem solving skills and a drive to support clients and internal teams to find solutions.
A Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, Environmental Studies or relevant Engineering field.
Holding or eligibility to obtain a relevant professional designation (e.g., P. Bio, R.P.F., P.Ag, EP, P.Eng) preferred but, not necessary.
A minimum of 6 years of environmental and regulatory related experience in the energy sector (upstream and/or midstream oil and gas, mining, electrical transmission, power generation, energy transition).
Previous Consulting Experience Preferred.
This role is a typical office environment, working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. The role may also include field work and/or site visits that may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
