Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer in Edmonton or Calgary to join our design and drafting team. You will create electronic CAD working plans, technical drawings, and documents for diverse projects and report to the Manager of design & drafting.

The ideal candidate has 4–8 years of electrical design experience in oil and gas, proficiency with AutoCAD, CADWorx/AutoPLANT, and strong collaboration skills; EPCM exposure is a plus, and a technologist designation is desirable.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical or Engineering design and drafting technology or equivalent experience.
• 4–8 years of intermediate electrical design experience in oil and gas or related industry; EPCM experience is required.
• ASET technologist designation is desirable.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and CADWorx or AutoPLANT.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electronic CAD working plans and drawings following electrical codes, industry standards, project standards and goals using AutoCAD.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Establish and modify personal work processes according to industry guidelines and procedures.
• Identify that drawings meet dimensions, materials, and procedures; correct deviations.
• Work with design team to meet deadlines and alter drawings as needed.
• Complete documentation packages and produce document sets.
• Support commissioning and start-up activities.
• Assist with project closeout and metrics.

ROLE OVERVIEW – Must Be Located Within Alberta.

We are looking to hire an Intermediate Electrical Designer in our Edmonton or Calgary location. This individual(s) will work with the design team and electrical engineering team to create electronic (CAD) working plans, technical drawings, and documents for various projects. This individual(s) will report to the Manager of design & drafting and ensure that all team members have a clear understanding of what will be created.

This is a great opportunity for an Intermediate level Electrical Designer(s). This individual(s) must be collaborative, possess strong electrical design knowledge and experience, be enthusiastic about new challenges (technical and non-technical) and can communicate well with others.

Experience & Academic Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical or Engineering design and drafting technology and/ or relevant work experience.
• Intermediate 4 – 8 years level of electrical design experience in the oil and gas or related industry; EPCM experience is a must.
• Professional Engineering technologist designation with ASET is desirable.
• Experience working on technical projects and project budgets for the intermediate position.
• Familiarity with industry codes/standards for intermediate position.
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, including 2D and 3D modeling functions.
• Expert knowledge of 3D design software including (CADWorx, or AutoPLANT) software suites for the intermediate position.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.

• Assist with the closeout of projects and completion of project metrics.
• Manage and report personal progress against planned project budgets and schedules.
• Assist project managers and client account managers with business development duties as required.
• Completion of other relevant duties as required.
