Job description
POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for completing engineering design tasks and projects from concept through production implementation. Responsibilities include all related design activities such as engineering calculations, documentation, CAD drawings, communication, and bill of materials creation. Reports to the New Product Engineering Manager – Coach.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Executes and completes engineering design tasks and project assignments to support of prototyping, testing, and product development per NPD product development processes.
  • Independently manages assigned tasks to meet project deadlines and lead times, including tracking progress, updating status, and communicating risks or scope changes.
  • Develops engineering designs that meet customer specifications, technical summaries, contract requirements, and applicable standards or industry best practices. Ensures designs meet performance, manufacturability, design efficiency and align with outlined design philosophy.
  • Performs engineering calculations and analyses to ensure compliance with design criteria, standards, and regulations. Strong analytical ability is essential.
  • Conducts controlled testing of components and system to meet contractual obligations, vendor requirements (SAA), and ensure product reliability and performance, and validate component fit.
  • Completes engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with established engineering procedures and document control standards.
  • Provides engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support, and other departments as directed by NPD Management.
  • Collaborates with vendors and customers on design-related issues. Prepares and reviews Supplier Application Approval (SAA) documentation for new component or system implementations.
  • Checks engineering documents, service instructions, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized.
  • Participates in design reviews, FMEA, and hazard analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology.
  • 5-10 years design experience, and demonstrate ability to achieve performance objectives and targets.
  • Proficiency in CAD Skills, MS Office Suite.
  • Travel up to 15% may be required
