The Opportunity

WSP is growing and has an opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Atlantic Environmental Assessment and Permitting team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Primary responsibilities will be to provide support on a wide variety of projects as delegated by senior staff within the group.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Provide technical input / expertise on a variety of permitting, regulatory and environmental impact assessment tasks in support of client projects.
  • environmental resources surveys and analysis including aquatic and/or marine sciences: fish community, fish habitat mapping, etc.
  • Terrestrial sciences: wetland delineations, botany, fauna surveys.
  • Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of:
    • Environmental permit application (e.g., Fisheries Act Authorizations)
    • Environmental assessments
  • Familiarity, or knowledge of aquatic biology and methods.
  • Preparation of proposals, permits and technical reports.
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • University Degree in Biology or Environmental Science.
  • 2-5 years' experience.
  • Solid technical and/or academic background in biological sciences.
  • Experience with some of the following.
  • Ability to work in Canada with a valid Canadian driver's license.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team, and also independently with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an existing strong commitment to personal/professional development and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
