  • Complete assigned reconciliations, continuity schedules, and other accounting tasks within communicated deadlines, ensuring entries and reconciliations are accurate and appropriately supported.
  • Prepare tax instalment and payment calculations and reconcile tax accounts to supporting tax filings and financial records.
  • Participate in monthly variance analysis to investigate fluctuations in general ledger balances, identify the reasons for variances, and initiate corrections as necessary.
  • Prepare supporting information and respond to requests from external auditors, tax advisors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders relating to assigned tax matters.
  • Provide training to junior members of the accounting team on assigned accounting tasks, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Tax Research and Legislative Compliance
  • Research and analyze the income tax, GST, and tax accounting implications of unique or new transactions and legislative changes, and document relevant facts, technical considerations, conclusions, and supporting analysis for review.
  • Maintain tax policy, memos, and procedure documentation to support consistent tax compliance and accounting practices, reflecting the outcomes of transaction analysis where relevant.
What you bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, B. Comm or equivalent.
  • CPA designation or active progress toward CPA designation, with enrolment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) preferred.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience or exposure to corporate taxation.
  • Experience preparing income tax returns, tax provisions, reconciliations, and supporting tax schedules.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial income tax legislation and GST/HST requirements.
  • Understanding of financial reporting and IFRS Accounting Standards, including income tax accounting.
  • Experience working with general ledger and financial reporting systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with financial data and reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to produce accurate, well-supported work within recurring deadlines.
