Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to design dialogue across project phases.
  • Prepare project budgets, schedules, and client presentations.
  • Ensure drawings comply with building codes and accessibility requirements.
  • Oversee construction administration including site visits and change notices.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Participate in industry and SGH design events.
  • Maintain personal project time logs using Ajera.
  • Mentor junior staff and support their professional development, including performance feedback and project scheduling coordination.

SGH Design Partners is looking for a talented full time Team Lead to join our Toronto studio.

At SGH, you will join a team of curious and talented designers focused on corporate workplace design, along with an expanding portfolio in hospitality and multi family residential projects.

The Position

As Team Lead, you will play a key role in collaborating with the project team to ensure design intent is translated into working drawings and documentation across all project phases, from pre-design through project close out. You will collaborate directly with one or more of our partners, ensuring a high level of engagement, accountability, and design leadership throughout each project.

What You Bring

  • Strong visualization and concept development skills, with the ability to translate design concepts into clear, detailed design solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Commitment to knowledge sharing and alignment with SGH delivery standards
  • Familiar with local building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainable design frameworks
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, etc.)
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to design dialogue across project phases and teams
  • Apply knowledge of workplace design trends, visioning, and culture-driven design strategies
  • Lead projects of mid to large scale and complexity (75,000 SF+)
  • Plan and facilitate visioning sessions; document and analyze outcomes
  • Prepare project budgets, schedules, and client presentations when required
  • Review and coordinate drawings and documentation internally and with engineering consultants
  • Ensure drawings comply with building codes and accessibility requirements
  • Guide projects from pre-lease through concept, design development, and construction
  • Lead concept development and oversee design direction with project teams

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • NCIDQ Certification required; has professional designation, additional professional designations are beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft 365
  • Experience in corporate workplace design or commercial sectors; hospitality experience is beneficial
