This is a senior finance leadership role, designed to provide strong financial governance, operational insight, and strategic decision support. The Finance Consultant will serve as a critical business partner to plant leadership and senior management—driving performance, supporting growth, and safeguarding the organization’s assets.

This role is well suited to a hands‑on, data‑driven finance leader with deep manufacturing experience who thrives in fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environments and brings both strategic perspective and shop‑floor credibility.

Assignment Overview

Key Accountabilities:
  • Lead plant budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Analyze variances versus standards and budgets; prepare monthly and year‑to‑date financial results.
  • Present monthly and year‑end financial performance to plant leadership and Finance.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, governance, and safeguarding of company assets.
Operational & Costing Excellence
  • Develop and maintain plant overhead standards, including labour models, machine speeds, material yields, and allocation methodologies.
  • Provide financial insight into manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and cost drivers.
  • Partner closely with operations to translate financial data into improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain an active on‑site presence to understand operational performance at ground level.
Capital & Strategic Support
  • Prepare ROI analyses and financial evaluations for capital expenditure proposals.
  • Monitor capital spending and support capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Support strategic projects and cross‑functional operational initiatives with financial insight.
  • Define and manage key reports, KPIs, and data systems supporting plant operations and Finance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing divisional finance team.
  • Partner effectively with leaders across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance.
  • Participate in cross‑functional KPI, operations, and continuous improvement forums.
Experience & Background
The ideal candidate will bring:
  • A university degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; CPA designation required.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller/VP/CFO role.
  • Manufacturing industry experience required, with strong cost accounting and inventory management background.
  • Experience in a recognized accounting firm strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics / Great Plains, Power BI).
Capabilities & Attributes
  • A strong decision‑support mindset with the ability to convert complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable operating in high‑volume manufacturing environments.
  • Results‑driven with an ownership mindset and proactive approach to risk management.
  • Clear, concise communicator able to partner effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Resilient, tenacious, and capable of thriving in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused setting.
  • A "boots-on-the-ground" leader who builds credibility through engagement and execution.
