Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) Engineer

Location – Toronto (Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced IDP Engineer to design, develop, and implement Intelligent Document Processing solutions using leading platforms such as Kofax, ABBYY, IQ Bot, Hyperscience, Rossum, Indico, UiPath Document Understanding, Automation Anywhere IQ Bot, Parascript or similar technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, OCR, machine learning, and document classification, with hands‑on experience in deploying IDP solutions for enterprise‑scale projects.

In this role, you will:
  • Configure and customize IDP platforms (Kofax, ABBYY, IQ Bot, Hyperscience, Rossum, Indico, UiPath DU, etc.) to meet business requirements.
  • Develop workflows for document ingestion, classification, extraction, and validation.
  • Integrate IDP solutions with RPA tools, ERP systems, and other enterprise applications.
  • Ensure seamless deployment and scalability of IDP solutions.
  • Implement OCR, NLP, and machine learning models for accurate data extraction.
  • Build validation rules and exception handling processes.
  • Monitor and optimize IDP processes for accuracy, speed, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements. Prepare technical documentation and provide training to end‑users.
What you need to be considered:
  • Hands on experience with IDP platforms (Kofax TotalAgility, ABBYY FlexiCapture, IQ Bot, Hyperscience, Rossum, Indico, UiPath DU, Parascript etc)
  • Strong knowledge of OCR technologies, NLP, and machine learning concepts.
  • Familiarity with RPA tools (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism) and API integrations
  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, .NET, or Java for custom scripting and automation
  • 3+ years of experience in IDP solution development and deployment.
  • Experience in handling structured, semi‑structured, and unstructured documents.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
What will help you stand out:
  • Certification in Kofax, ABBYY, UiPath DU, or similar IDP platforms.
  • Experience with cloud‑based IDP solutions (AWS Textract, Azure Form Recognizer, Google Document AI).
  • Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks for document processing.

Salary and Other Compensation: We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $107,000 – $125,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business‑related and job‑necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance‑based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

Working arrangements: We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client office in Toronto, ON.
