Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is looking for an Integrated Assessment Plan (IAP) & Self-Assessment Specialist in Chalk River, Ontario. The successful candidate will lead the IAP process, ensuring effective coordination of assessments and audits.

Responsibilities include developing the IAP program, supporting self-assessment initiatives, and improving processes across the organization. Candidates should have a relevant university degree and 2-4 years of experience, preferably in a nuclear setting.

Overview

Do you enjoy improving processes and supporting teams to conduct meaningful self-assessments that maintain compliance and strengthen program effectiveness? If so, CNL is seeking an Integrated Assessment Plan (IAP) & Self-Assessment Specialist to lead these efforts and contribute to ongoing program enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the Integrated Assessment Plan (IAP) process across the organization, ensuring effective coordination and execution of all assessment activities.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the IAP program to support evolving organizational needs.
• Collaborate with functions and missions to develop and maintain the annual IAP, track progress, report status, and follow up on overdue assessments.
• Conduct year-end activities, including closing out the IAP and reporting on overall performance and outcomes.
• Implement and continuously improve the self-assessment program to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
• Partner with functions and missions to develop and roll out a multi-year self-assessment planning tool aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate self-assessment plans and assess the quality and effectiveness of completed self-assessments.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications

• Education
  • University degree with two to four years of related experience, or a three-year college diploma with a minimum of five years of related experience.
• Experience
  • Organizing and administering assessments and/or assessment programs, preferably in a nuclear environment.
  • Leading initiatives with implementation across an organization.
  • Leading small work groups effectively.
  • Understanding and managing conflicting requirements across diverse projects, groups, and stakeholders.
  • Working with quality systems, particularly assessments.
  • Assessing the quality of self-assessment plans and completed self-assessments.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Superior planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle a broad range of activities, from routine tasks to complex assignments requiring initiative, and to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to support multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to gather information, present options, and support improvement initiatives in a change-resistant environment.

  • Knowledge of Lean initiatives is considered an asset.
• Security
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required: Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions

• Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

Location

Onsite at Chalk River Laboratory, Ontario. Located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley with access to nearby communities such as Deep River, Petawawa, and Pembroke.
