INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN-BROOKS, ALBERTA

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (JBS Canada) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

This position will support all computer/network equipment including servers, switches, cabling, printers and desktops system.

NOTE: THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN BROOKS, ALBERTA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide production support for issues involving instrumentation and process control;
  • Provide maintenance support, including calibrations for all instrumentation and process control, including the development of maintenance support strategies and schedules;
  • Develop, execute and document an Asset Care program for instrumentation, automation and related systems;
  • Support utility metering and related systems;
  • Select and commission support for new instrumentation;
  • Maintaining equipment regularly by adjusting system components and testing functionalities;
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting equipment for issues and repairing or replacing defective parts as needed
  • Support Validation activities.
  • Lead and participate in failure analysis activities related to instrumentation or process control;
  • Lead and assist, independently or in teams, with the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities for process control and instrumentation.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to perform work without established procedures (and thus involved with procedure development) with minimum supervision;
  • Team and customer service focus with good organizational and planning skills;
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills required to communicate technical information with non-technical resources;
  • Must be proficient with Allen Bradley, PLC 5, and RS Logix 500 & 5000 programming and troubleshooting;
  • Proficiency in SLQ servers required;
  • Instrumentation: I/P transducers and Modulating Valves;
  • Must be proficient with HMI’s, including Panelview, Factory Talk, and Wonderware;
  • Instrumentation or Engineering certificate is required
  • 2-5 years of related experience;
  • Ability to read drawings pertaining to industrial instrumentation;
  • Analytical Thinking with excellent troubleshooting skills, and ability to read P&IDs and follow PLC programs;
  • Willingness and flexibility to work in shift as scheduled (afternoon shift/weekends);
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of Windows and MS Office suite.

Work Site Environment: Noisy, Odours, Hot, Cold/refrigerated.
