Based out of Victoria BC, with a network of locations throughout western and northern Canada, with a primary focus on the Alberta/B.C. region.

Diesel Petroleum to support their Oil Sands client. Please note: hours, schedules, shifts and site locations may change from time to time to meet operational requirements.

Qualification
  • A diploma in Instrumentation Technology
  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician Certificate; attach your Journeyperson / Red Seal ticket with your application to be considered
  • Minimum of five years of related experience
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must have knowledge and relevant maintenance experience in sour and sweet gas wellsite, compression, and processing facilities
  • Must possess provincial or interprovincial Instrumentation trades certification
  • Experience with and understanding of computerized maintenance management systems and procedures
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Proficient in the use and application of MS Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and Access
  • Proficient knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting and analytical skills as well as the ability to make timely decisions
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • Strong collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Experience working with industrial Instrumentation and/or advanced process control systems in a large industrial facility
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A strong safety mindset with proven safe work practices and knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
Responsibilities
  • Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level and composition
  • Calibrate, document, repair and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment in field and plant environments
  • Maintain area instrumentation, including pneumatic instruments, electronic devices, analytical equipment, Fisher ROC, ScadaPak RTUs, DCS systems, PLCs, analyzers and compressor panels
  • Utilize software to troubleshoot process issues in plant and field environments
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response
  • Maintain proper documentation of calibration and repair records
  • Ensure ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site‑specific training, process training
  • Utilize and follow CMMS program
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair a wide spectrum of instruments including many types of process analyzers, a wide range of process control equipment including Coriolis flow, radar level, nuclear level and flame detection interfacing to an advanced automation system (Honeywell DCS / Triconex PLC) control system
  • Maintain, test and ensure the functionality of the refinery’s Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and associated Emergency Shutdown (ESD) equipment
  • Implement preventative and predictive programs/assignments for instrumentation systems
  • Participate in root cause analysis discussions
  • Maintain equipment histories as required
  • Execute jobs, including the assessment and selection of material
