Job description

Our client is seeking an Outage I&C Technician for a shutdown for a nuclear plant. Previous nuclear experience is non-negotiable. The I&C Technician will be responsible for performing instrumentation and control maintenance, calibration, and testing tasks.

The role ensures all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with nuclear safety and operational standards. The technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on various process instruments, support troubleshooting activities, and uphold strict adherence to HS&E and quality requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform calibration, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation (pressure, level, flow, temperature, vibration, and speed).
  • Use test tools such as digital multimeters (DMM), Druck pressure testers, torque tools, and resistance boxes.
  • Test and calibrate switches, transmitters, solenoids, and control valve components (I/P converters, positioners, limits).
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and resolve simple faults during calibration or testing.
  • Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and within radiation-controlled areas.
  • Ensure compliance with HS&E procedures, nuclear safety standards, and Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) controls.
  • Report calibration data, maintenance findings, and issues accurately.
  • Support turbine and rod control instrumentation as required.
Qualifications:
  • Technical Certificate or Diploma in Instrumentation, Control, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in I&C maintenance or calibration (nuclear or power industry preferred).
  • Experience with transmitters, switches, and test equipment operation.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Skilled in instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with hand tools and test devices (DMM, Druck, torque).
  • Understanding of control valves and field instruments.
  • Strong safety awareness and FME control knowledge.
  • Good English communication and teamwork skills.
