Instrument Technician – Power Plant Operations
Mackenzie, BC | 7-on/7-off | 12-hour shifts
We are seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to join our Power Plant operations team. In this critical role, you will repair, maintain, calibrate, adjust, and install industrial measuring and control instrumentation essential to safe and efficient plant performance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, problem‑solving abilities, and a solid commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Review manufacturer manuals, circuit diagrams, and blueprints to determine testing and maintenance procedures for instruments that measure and control flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition, and other operational variables.
- Inspect and test instrument systems using pneumatic, electrical, and electronic testing devices along with precision measuring tools to diagnose faults.
- Repair, adjust, and troubleshoot system components such as sensors, transmitters, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including removing or replacing defective parts.
- Calibrate instruments and components to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and complete detailed test and maintenance reports.
- Install control and measurement instruments on both new and existing plant equipment and processes.
- Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to process operators.
- Perform additional duties as required to support safe and efficient power plant operations.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Instrument Technician Certification (required).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Availability to work various shifts including Days, Afternoons, and Graveyards.
- Experience in Boiler and Steam Turbine Power Plants is preferred.
- Reliable and dependable, with strong attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and procedures.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physically fit and able to meet job demands.
- Willingness to relocate to Mackenzie, BC.
