Job Description
The role of the Instrument Technician or Industrial Electrician involves the maintenance, construction, and commissioning of instrumentation and electrical systems in oilfield environments. Responsibilities include instrument and electrical construction, field maintenance, sampling, and verification of gas and liquid meters, as well as support of service lines such as CSU and construction activities.
<>Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical troubleshooting and field maintenance.
  • Execute instrument and electrical construction.
  • Conduct wellsite and facility instrumentation shutdown checks and inspections.
  • Carry out EFM gas calibrations and verifications.
  • Verify on‑site liquid meters.
  • Interpret basic RTU, EFM, and PLC configurations.
  • Read P&ID’s and measurement schematics.
  • Sample gas and liquid.
  • Apply AER Directive 017 regulations and BCER measurement guidelines.
  • Adhere to Canadian Electrical Code during construction activities.
  • Provide mentorship and training to less experienced staff.
  • Follow basic regulatory requirements and measurement best practices.

Qualifications
  • Journeyman Instrument Mechanic and/or Industrial Electrician.
  • In‑depth knowledge of field activities and upstream oil and gas facilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google, and general software.
  • Required HSE training for field work.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 operator’s license or equivalent with a clean driver abstract.
  • Experience working with basic hand tools.
  • Off‑road driving experience is an asset.
