Job description

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services includes the Departments of Child and Youth Care, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Health Care Assistant, Nursing, Practical Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, and a Professional Development and Training department. The mission of the Faculty is to foster student success and develop and maintain relevant, responsive, and stimulating learning opportunities that are community‑based, globally and locally, and offered in a visionary, interprofessional environment that is conducive to learning and promotes health and wellness for all. The Dean and the Dean's Office lead, manage, administer and support the instructional, scholarly and outreach activities of the Faculty on four campuses with this mission in mind.

Duties
  • Plan, prepare and instruct program courses;
  • use creative adult learning strategies in the preparation and delivery of in‑person clinical skills;
  • assessment and evaluation of student learning;
  • recording and submitting grades;
  • providing support to students to ensure their success;
  • working collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners.

This program is delivered in partnership with Selkirk College.

We are looking for an Instructor for the following course:

  • PTEC 223 - Institutional Dispensing and Sterile Product Preparation

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success. Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.

Required Qualifications
  • Licensed Regulated Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia
  • Current Sterile Compounding Certification in accordance with the NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Sterile Preparations (hazardous and non‑hazardous)
  • Current practice in an institutional hospital pharmacy environment, including sterile compounding
  • Solid understanding of the scope and role of pharmacy technicians in the health care system
  • Proficiency with the application and integration of information technology
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal ways of knowing and cultural teachings
  • Responsive to a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, learning, and student success

To instruct PTEC 223 Institutional Dispensing and Sterile Product Preparation, incumbents must be currently working in sterile compounding in a hospital setting and have current Certification in aseptic compounding techniques in accordance with the NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Sterile Preparations (hazardous and non‑hazardous).

Preferred Qualifications
  • The BC Provincial Instructor Diploma, or its equivalent, completed or in progress (maximum two years to completion) from an accredited institution;
  • Experience teaching adults in a post‑secondary setting;
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (D2L) in an educational setting.
