Job summary

Kibbi Technologies Inc. is seeking a dedicated rehabilitation assistant to support students with visual impairments, instructing braille, lip-reading, sign language, and the use of prosthetic devices and wheelchairs to improve independence.

This on-site role in Brampton requires College/CEGEP education and 3–5 years of experience, strong communication, patience, and client-focused approach to develop individualized education plans and facilitate readaptation.

Qualifications

• 3 years to less than 5 years of experience
• Fluent English communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in working with clients with disabilities is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assess clients' cognitive, social and emotional barriers to establish adaptation goals
• Assess people's physical limitations, orientation abilities and mobility to establish client rehabilitation
• Instruct students in reading and writing braille
• Instruct students in lip-reading, finger spelling and sign language
• Instruct in the use of rehabilitative techniques, prosthetic devices and wheelchairs
• Instruct students in formation and development of sound for speech using hearing aids and other devices
• Assist students to develop life skills
• Develop individualized education and intervention plans based on special needs of client to facilitate their readaptation and independence objectives
