Job summary

Brock University is seeking an instructor for NURS 4P09: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics: Mental Health Disorders, under the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role covers planned contact time with students, lectures, seminars, and course administration on campus in St. Catharines.

Compensation is per half course or full course, with rates documented for both halves and full courses; hiring depends on enrolment and budget approval and the on-campus presence requirement remains in effect.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Nursing or DNP preferred; Masters in Nursing considered if no PhD/DNP.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Clinical background in mental health and teaching a mental health course.
  • Evidence of competent teaching experience at undergraduate university level.

Responsibilities

  • Duties in accordance with Collective Agreement; scheduled contact time with students.
  • Non-classroom time includes lecture preparation, student consultation, marking and grading.
  • Course administration, including grade appeals and academic dishonesty handling.

Education

PhD in Nursing or DNP preferred

Title of Course

Pathophysiology and Therapeutics: Mental Health Disorders

Compensation
  • Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally)
  • Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally)

Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications
  • PhD in Nursing or DNP preferred. If there are no qualified PhD or DNP applicants, Masters degree in Nursing will be considered.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Clinical background in mental health and experience in teaching a mental health course.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level.

As per Article 22.04 of the Collective Agreement: Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.

Applicants that are in excess of the above noted workload limits will not have their applications considered unless they have received prior written approval from the appropriate Dean and the Human Resources Department.
