Job summary

The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is seeking a casual Group Fitness Instructor for East Lambton YMCA with a start date in September 2026. The role offers daytime shifts and occasional weekends, with pay of $17.60–$25.00 per hour based on experience and certifications.

You will lead engaging classes, promote safety, and uphold YMCA values while supporting member wellness. Applicants must hold current Group Fitness certifications, First Aid/CPR, and pass a vulnerable sector check.

Rate of Pay: $17.60-$25.00

Qualifications & Experience:

• Relevant Group Exercise certification as follows:
• YMCA Group Fitness streams
• MOSSA
• Aquatic Fitness
• Yoga
• Additional certifications
• Current First Aid and CPR
• Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers
• It is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human Rights Code ground. This requirement has been suspendedeffective June 30, 2022. It may be reinstated in future should the state of public health in our communities require it.

Schedule:

• This is a casual/coverage position with varying hours - expectation is one shift per week or 4 hours worked per month
• Varying shifts including mornings, daytime, evenings and weekends
• This particular position is for predominantly daytime shifts (8 am – 12 pm)

Responsibilities:

• YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures
• Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work
• Provide high quality group exercise instruction
• Generate positive experiences for each individual that you meet, through excellent customer service and relations
• Provide a safe environment that fosters a fun and enthusiastic atmosphere
• Arrive ten minutes prior to class and ensure all necessary equipment is set up prior to class commencement
• Educate and motivate class participants
• Be able to role model movements safely and effectively
