Job summary

Brock University seeks a qualified instructor to teach AROPT: Approaches to Curatorial Practices – D3, HAVC 3P41 Practical application of methodological and theoretical approaches to curating. The role involves blended delivery: in-class Tuesdays 13:30-15:00 and online asynchronous, with responsibilities including lectures, seminars and assessment.

Compensation is provided per half or full course, effective September 1, 2026, with flexible work arrangements where possible.

Qualifications

• MA/MFA or PhD.
• Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required.
• Relevant professional experience in the field.
• Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations and 3 letters of reference.
• Appropriate professional affiliations.
• Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.

Responsibilities

• Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement.
• Scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures).
• Student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.

Course Format:Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week Blended: in-class Tuesday 13:30-15:00 and online asynchronous

Compensation Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally)

Compensation Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally)

Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
