Job summary

CAE Inc is seeking an experienced Instructional Systems Designer to support the Canadian Future Fighter Lead-In Training program. You will design and develop interactive eLearning solutions for defense and security clients, collaborating with SMEs to analyze data and define competencies.

Lead training development efforts, manage schedules, and ensure quality and standards across the team. Join CAE’s Technology & Product Development teams to drive cutting-edge simulation and training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Education, Adult Education, Instructional Design, or a related field with relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in instructional design, computer-based training development, or a related learning development discipline.
  • Experience collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to develop training solutions.
  • Experience managing project deliverables, schedules, and priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) methodology throughout the training development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to gather and analyze data, conduct cognitive task analyses, and define and categorize competencies.
  • Lead and coordinate the training development activities of CAE employees and subcontractors.
  • Assign work, organize priorities, and monitor team progress against project milestones.
  • Track project schedules and support adherence to delivery timelines.
  • Escalate schedule, scope, or resource issues as appropriate.
  • Provide project metrics, progress updates, and status reports to project leadership.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the development team and management.
  • Review training materials and courseware to ensure compliance with established development standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members to support quality and consistency.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage instructional design, writing, and media standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support training development objectives.
  • Participate in training analysis and instructional design activities as required.

The successful candidate will work within a team of training professionals responsible for the design and development of interactive eLearning solutions for Defense and Security clients.

Eligible to obtain and maintain: Enhanced Reliability Clearance (EHC) Secret Security Clearance ITAR compliance Controlled Goods Program (CGP) authorization

Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-graduate certificate or degree in Education, Adult Education, Instructional Design, or a related discipline.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
  • Experience leading or coordinating the work of a small team.
  • Knowledge of competency-based training frameworks.
  • Experience conducting cognitive task analyses.
  • Experience supporting Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) training programs.
  • Experience working within defense, aerospace, or complex corporate environments.
  • Business acumen and project coordination experience.
