WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for an Inspector to join our team based in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec. As an Inspector you will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at the consignment location. You will act as an independent party to verify compliance with agreed processes and provide details to clients regarding the handling of their products. Some assignments may include active sampling and shipping of products for laboratory testing.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Fluency in French & English is essential.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with work site and office-based staff.
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to convey details through accurate, professional and timely communications (verbal, written and in person) including taking photographs and producing thorough and detailed written reports (in some instances)
  • Able to send and receive accurate email and phone communications for coordination and scheduling of assignments and to communicate status updates.
  • Must be reliable and able to organize and operate independently (training will be provided).
  • General computer literacy (Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, etc)
  • Must have a good grasp of basic mathematics (counting, verifying quantities and weights).
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as packing lists, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, safety instructions, etc.
  • Follow directions ensuring the results are accurate and reported promptly.
  • Must be respectful, able to work well with others, communicate effectively, handle conflict resolution and maintain positive, courteous and professional relationships with colleagues, clients and on and off site personnel.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Follow appropriate health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain work areas, records and equipment in a clean, organized and functional condition.

Required Work Experience

  • Experience in material sampling and inspection practices (desirable).
  • Experience in warehousing, port operations, logistics, processing or general hands-on tasks (desirable).
Required Qualifications
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role including lifting up to 50lbs, walking, standing, reaching, bending, climbing, sampling and driving.
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle suitable for transportation to assignments.
  • Must have a valid and clean Driving Licence.
