Job summary

Binnie LLC is seeking an Inspector to join our Infrastructure Langley Division in Langley, BC. This role blends field and office work on municipal projects across the Lower Mainland, including road and utility improvements and stormwater work.

You will inspect civil works during construction, maintain records, support contract management, and contribute to design details and cost estimates. A strong background in inspection and regulatory knowledge will help succeed in this dynamic role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-4+ years of inspection experience in civil engineering environments.
• Familiarity with MMCD and tendering processes.
• Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle for site travel.
• Strong organization and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

Job description

Binnie is looking for an Inspector to join our Infrastructure Langley Division, which provides professional civil engineering services for local municipalities. Typical projects include road and utility improvements and replacements, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control. This role is based out of our Langley office, but the work locations may vary across the Lower Mainland.

This role combines both field and office work. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver construction support services on municipal infrastructure projects of various sizes and complexities.

You inspect civil works throughout the construction progress on multiple projects, keep up-to-date construction records, evaluate constructed works, track schedule variances, prepare progress payment certificates, and assist Project Managers with contract management.

In the office, you contribute to the design side of the project delivery process. You prepare construction details, quantity take-offs, and construction cost estimates while working closely with multiple project teams.

You will utilize your strong background in construction inspection to observe and inspect work and keep accurate, up-to-constructed information as work progresses.

YOUR ROLE:

• Completing and reporting on-site inspections
• Preparing and updating as-constructed field record drawings
• Notifying the Project Manager or Contract Administrator of potential problems and liaising with municipal inspectors and outside agencies
• Coordinating with Contractors and assisting with construction administration
• Abiding by Binnie’s established procedures and complying with Binnie’s Safety Program

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Minimum 2-4+ years of previous experience in inspection in a civil engineering environment
• Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Construction Inspection, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Comfort and experience working in a construction setting
• Registration as an AScT, C.Tech or EIT., and/or CPWI preferred
• Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle for travel to job sites
• Familiarity with the tendering process and construction contracts
• Familiarity and knowledge with MMCD
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $70,490 – $102,500 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
