Job summary

The Registered Nurse in SJH St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton provides care for patients in the Schizophrenia & Community Integration Service. The RN completes assessments, plans and coordinates treatments with an inter-professional team, following standards of practice and trauma-informed care.

Requires Ontario RN registration, CPR, CPI training, and knowledge of MH legislation; includes opportunities for professional growth and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• CPMHN(c) certification preferred; CPR certification required.
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Training is required.
• Experience caring for patients with serious mental illness preferred.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act and related legislation is required.
• Proficient computer skills and documentation standards are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care for patients with complex mental illnesses.
• Perform assessments, plans, and organize treatment and interventions.
• Collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team and model leadership.
• Ensure safety and apply person-centered, trauma-informed care.
