The Role:

We are seeking an Innovation Analyst to identify, test, and advance practical improvements to legal and business work. Working directly with users, you will analyze workflows, define high-value use cases, prototype and evaluate technology-enabled solutions, and help validated ideas progress into sustainable delivery. This hands‑on role combines business analysis, experimentation, user engagement, technology evaluation, and responsible AI stewardship, with a focus on measurable outcomes.

Essential Functions:

• Work directly with legal and business professionals to understand workflows, challenges, priorities, constraints, dependencies, and desired outcomes; identify recurring pain points and scalable opportunities for improvement.
• Define and prioritize innovation use cases by assessing expected value, feasibility, risk, repeatability, urgency, strategic alignment, effort, and measurable outcomes; recommend the most appropriate product, configuration, AI-enabled workflow, process change, or custom solution.
• Design structured experiments and lightweight prototypes using approved technologies; define hypotheses, scope, source materials, test cases, evaluation criteria, and success measures; test realistic and difficult scenarios with users and subject matter experts; document results, limitations, risks, controls, and recommendations to proceed, revise, defer, or stop.
• Partner with practice groups and business teams to improve high-value workflows, facilitate working sessions grounded in real tasks and work products, develop reusable approaches, and communicate validated solutions clearly.
• Explore knowledge-enabled solutions using authoritative precedents, matter content, and institutional knowledge; test search and information structures while addressing currency, permissions, confidentiality, traceability, maintenance, and reliability.
• Evaluate technology and vendors against defined needs, comparing workflow coverage, usability, output quality, integration, governance, cost, and sustainability; gather representative user feedback and recommend adoption, configuration, custom development, replacement, or retirement.
• Apply requirements for security, privacy, confidentiality, records management, information governance, and responsible AI; use approved environments and access controls, document risks and decisions, communicate limitations, and reinforce qualified human review.
• Transition validated opportunities into delivery with clear problem statements, requirements, user stories, prototype outputs, test evidence, limitations, success measures, operational ownership, and reusable lessons; support delivery teams, pilots, acceptance testing, and post‑implementation evaluation.
• Produce clear, decision-ready deliverables such as workflow analyses, prioritized use cases, proof‑of‑value plans, prototypes, test findings, product or vendor assessments, governance and readiness assessments, stakeholder briefings, project‑intake materials, and transition documentation.
• Generate reliable evidence, stop weak ideas early, transition validated opportunities into delivery, document decisions and risks, earn stakeholder trust, and support responsible adoption that delivers meaningful user or operational benefits.

Qualifications:

• Post‑secondary education in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in technology, process improvement, product discovery, business analysis, innovation, or a related field.
• Ability to analyze and document complex workflows, engage users, gather requirements, support pilots, evaluate technology, and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Sound judgment when handling sensitive information, ambiguity, risk, and competing priorities, with the ability to build effective cross‑functional relationships.
• Curious, pragmatic, analytical, and user‑focused, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly and pursue sustainable improvements in quality, capacity, consistency, risk management, user experience, and client service.
• Required experience in a law firm, legal department, legal operations function, or legal technology environment.
• Required familiarity with legal workflows and legal work product, including how lawyers and legal professionals create, review, manage, and deliver documents, advice, and client service. Exposure to generative AI, legal technology, knowledge platforms, document management systems, workflow automation, prototyping, product discovery, agile delivery, or project‑intake practices is considered an asset.
• Compensation: $85,000 to $100,000 per annum, based on experience
